Margaret DeCorte Ph.D., C. Psych.Psychologist (Retired)
Dr. Margaret DeCorte, who is now retired, worked for over 40 years, first as an academic/research psychologist and later as a practicing clinician. With training in lifespan developmental psychology, her areas of specialty included infant, child, and youth mental health, family relationships, attachment, and the treatment of anxiety, depression, and trauma. Dr. DeCorte taught child and family psychology for many years, first in New York and later in Ottawa, and she supervised numerous students, residents, and post-doctoral interns.

With a longtime interest in professional ethics, she was involved in organizing conferences and participating in both clinical and research ethics committees. Dr. DeCorte was a longtime employee of the Royal Ottawa Hospital where she held both administrative and clinical positions. She was also involved in local, national, and international organizations, working to improve mental health services worldwide for children and families.

Dr. DeCorte published in professional journals as well as popular magazines, and has been interviewed on CBC radio as well as national television broadcasts. Her primary interests have focused on compassionate care for children and families, always working to improve the quality of the patient experience in healthcare.
